No doubt we have speculated this in the intention  when in need to forgive those who sin against us. But in all honesty have we ever looked closely at how often we have sinned against our own Self. This is when the anger is so directly directed at our mistakes from the past or even intentions not well understood in the patterns we repeat in torturing our Self. We are God's Holy Creation, and when the command to " forgive thy neighbor" was taught by The Great Teacher, He actuallly started something much greater than to forgive those who err against us, He said: "... as thy Self". Will we ever learn the lesson well when it comes to our Holy Self? Yes, the following message is so much more compassionate than we have ever been to Self:

" Oh Children of the most Beautiful Universe of Love and nothing but Love! Please embrace thy Self and affirm that mistakes and sins are not ever remembered by God when you say it was a mistake. Yes, just like a honest apology from a good friend or parent, child or even an enemy... when that sincere " Sorry" comes to your awareness and you know it is not to cause any further strife, just accept it ! And most of all accept that you can say these same words to Self... and say: " I will cherish it to never carry the burden of  un-forgiveness to Self any more". This is the heaviest burden: the un-forgiveness to Self for what you could have done differently, but didn't. You rise from the ashes of your own condemnation when you say: " I am free to go on and see that as a child of God I am always forgiven, and will just take with me a lesson from the lessons learned and not ever forgotten."
